Biography
Dr Alexia Peña is an Associate Professor at The University of Adelaide and a Staff Specialist (Paediatric Endocrinologist) at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She completed her PhD in 2008 examining strategies to improve vascular health in children with type 1 diabetes and obesity.
Dr Peña has a strong research interest in management of childhood and adolescent obesity; and its comorbidities including Type 2 diabetes and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). She led the first national guidelines for paediatric Type 2 diabetes Dr Peña was involved in the development of international evidence-based guidelines to improve the women with PCOS in 2018 and the update released in 2023. Her research also includes evaluation of emotional wellbeing in adolescents with Type 2 diabetes or PCOS and strategies to improve quality of life and emotional wellbeing of these girls.
She has been actively involved in Obesity and Endocrine Societies:
ANZOS: Council secretary (2011-2013), Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group (APEG now ANZSPED) Council secretary (2014-2017) and Asian Pacific Pediatric Endocrine society (APPES) Council member since October 2022.

Kenneth KY Wong, Hong Kong

Biography
Prof. Kenneth Wong received medical degree from University of Edinburgh and his Ph.D degree in immunology at Imperial College. He is currently Clinical Professor and Chief of Paediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery, HKU.
He is an internationally renowned paediatric surgeon with clinical interests in neonatal surgery, advanced laparoscopic/ robotic surgery, gastrointestinal and thoracic surgery. He set up the paediatric robotic surgery and introduced single port surgery, bariatric surgery & thoracoscopic surgery in children in Hong Kong. He has been co-project leader in “Laparoscopic Workshops for Paedaitric Surgeons in China” since 2007 and has helped train over 2500 Chinese paediatric surgeons.
Prof. Wong sits on the executive boards of Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons, World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgery and Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons.
He has published over 220 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has over 7000 citations with an h-index of 40. He has also contributed to 15 book chapters. He was listed as Top 1% scientist in HKU in 2017.
He serves as Founding Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Pediatric Surgery Open, and is Associate Editor for Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Frontiers Pediatrics and BMC Pediatrics and is on the editorial board of 7 other international peer-reviewed clinical and scientific journals. He has been invited and given over 100 invited lectures worldwide.

Professor Dr Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin is The Deputy Dean (Undergraduate Studies) at the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. He is a Professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya and a practicing Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Senior Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA after obtaining his MBBS and Masters in Paediatrics, both from University Malaya.
He is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Group (MPEDG), Vice President of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS 2022-2024), and executive council member of the Diabetes Malaysia (DM 2023-2025).
Prof Jalaludin’s main research interests lie in obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, growth (nutrition) and vitamin D in children. He holds many national and international research grants, and acts as a Scientific Advisor and Expert Panel member for many multi-centre international researches for type 2 diabetes, obesity and growth hormone in children. His work has been published in various academic journals including in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM)

Dr. Nalini Shah is Professor Emeritus, Department of Endocrinology at KEM Hospital, Mumbai. An academician to the core, she has always been a merit holder with several “first” and gold medals to her credit. She has received training in Paediatric Endocrinology in London Centre for Pediatric Endocrinology.
Known for her astute clinical judgment and her keen interest in training her post graduates specializing in endocrinology. Known nationally and internationally for the vast clinical experience. She has 220 publications in various international journals. She’s held several positions of responsibility, including being the President of Indian Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ISPAE).

Wu Wei, M.D. is attending endocrinologist and vice director of endocrinology department of Children’s Hospital, Zhejiang University, School of Medicine. She is the deputy director of Youth Committee of Chinese Society of Pediatric Endocrinology & Metabolic Disease and deputy director of Youth Committee of Zhejiang Society of Pediatrics. She is also the member of Editorial Board RLC (Development of a Global e-learning Curriculum in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology for Front Line Health Care Providers in Resource-Limited Countries) of ESPE (European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology). She worked as a visiting scientist in Boston Children’s Hospital during August, 2018 to August, 2019.
Dr. Wu’s clinical work focus on short stature, bone & mineral disorders, childhood obesity and diabetes, adrenal diseases, precocious puberty, and disorder of sexual development, etc. Her main research interests are childhood obesity, diabetes, as well as bone & mineral disorders. She leads seven research projects including 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China. She is the key member of a muti-center study, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, focusing on the current incidence and prevalence of childhood diabetes all around China. As a logical extension of this study, she is leading the Study on Early Identification and Management of Childhood Metabolic Syndrome. She published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in the past fifteen years.

Hermann L. Müller is Professor of Pediatrics and head of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, University Children’s Hospital, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Klinikum Oldenburg AöR, Germany. He trained in general pediatrics at the Universities of Marburg and Würzburg, Germany. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center (1991-1993, Prof. Dr. Ron Rosenfeld) and then trained in pediatric oncology, hematology, endocrinology and diabetology at the Department of Pediatrics, University of Würzburg, Germany.
Since 1999 he has coordinated the German/European craniopharyngioma trials HIT-ENDO and KRANIOPHARYNGEOM 2000/2007 and KRANIOPHARYNGEOM 2019 Registry, in which over 800 patients with childhood-onset craniopharyngioma from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have been recruited up to now. From 2004 to 2011, Dr. Müller was speaker of the Craniopharyngioma Subgroup of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP).
His research interests are late effects after pediatric oncological disease, neuro-endocrinology, mechanisms of satiety regulation, diagnostics and treatment of hypothalamic obesity, craniopharyngioma. Prof. Müller is head of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Klinikum Oldenburg, Germany, which is part of the European Medical School Oldenburg-Groningen and member of the European reference networks for rare diseases (PaedCan – craniopharyngioma).

Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore, and completed his paediatrics specialist training at the National University Hospital. Currently, he is the Group Chief of Paediatrics, National University Health System, and concurrently the Head of the Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children’s Medical Institute, and head of the department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital.
He is a practicing Senior Consultant Paediatrician in the Division of Paediatric Endocrinology, Department of Paediatrics, Khoo Teck Puat- National University Children’s Medical Institute, National University Hospital. Prof. Lee is also the Head of department, Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
He is the immediate past president of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES), and the immediate past president of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Professor Lee has more than 240 peer reviewed publications in the areas of childhood obesity, developmental origins of heath and disease, and paediatric endocrinology.

Biography
Associate Professor Ryan Paul is an endocrinologist at Health, New Zealand and the University of Waikato. He is also a Clinical Associate of the Maurice Wilkins Centre, the Immediate Past-President of the New Zealand Society of Endocrinology (NZSE), an Executive Member of the New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes (NZSSD) and convenes the New Zealand National Diabetes Guidance Group. Ryan’s research interests are the use of technology in diabetes, the management of diabetes in youth and emerging adults, and education of diabetes for health professionals. He was awarded the NZ Medical Educator of the year in 2019.

Biography
Dr. Wassim Chemaitilly is a paediatrician specializing in the endocrine sequelae of childhood cancers and tumours. Originally from Beirut, Lebanon, he obtained his medical degree at the Universite de Paris – Necker in France and completed sub-specialization in paediatric endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, USA. He directed the endocrinology division at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee between 2011 and 2021 and has been serving as the clinical director of the division of paediatric endocrinology at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since September 2021. He is co-author of more than 120 articles and chapters covering different aspects of paediatric endocrinology, including 80 original research articles focused on the long-term health outcomes of childhood cancer survivors.

Professor Minu Bajpai is a distinguished figure in Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Urology, with an illustrious career sp anning 38 years. He specialized in Paediatric Surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi, in 1984. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Paediatric Surgery Department at AIIMS, serving as faculty and later as the Head of Department and Dean (Academics) until his retirement in 2023.
Throughout his career, Professor Bajpai has not only excelled in clinical practice but has also made significant contributions to academic and research endeavours. He holds a Diplomate of the National Board in Paediatric Surgery and a PhD, showcasing his dedication to advancing medical knowledge. His expertise has been recognized internationally through prestigious fellowships and memberships in esteemed medical societies.
Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Professor Bajpai has been instrumental in fostering collaborations and partnerships, both nationally and internationally. He has facilitated important MoUs with universities and institutions worldwide, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and advancements in medical research and education.
As the Executive Director of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), Professor Bajpai has played a crucial role in addressing specialist gaps in the country’s medical sector. Under his leadership, NBEMS has expanded its training programs and collaborations with private hospitals, significantly increasing the training space in hospitals countrywide & number of specialty boards, and opening new fellowship opportunities.
In addition to his administrative and academic leadership roles, Professor Bajpai has been actively involved in organizing numerous workshops, conferences, and training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of young Paediatric surgeons. His efforts have not only contributed to the growth of the Paediatric surgery field but have also facilitated the dissemination of medical knowledge and best practices.
Professor Bajpai’s legacy is further cemented through his innovative approaches to teaching and academic development. He has leveraged technology to create platforms for collaborative learning, such as, SURGERY-PAEDIA and case-based discussions, ensuring continuous professional development and knowledge sharing among faculty and students.
Professor Minu Bajpai has made groundbreaking contributions to Paediatric surgery and urology, spanning various innovative techniques and methodologies. His pioneering work includes advancements in genital reconstruction techniques for children with congenital anomalies like hypospadias and ambiguous genitalia, aimed at restoring normal anatomy and function. Additionally, he has mastered minimally invasive surgeries such as lumboscopy and umbilicoscopy, which minimize trauma, expedite recovery, and yield superior cosmetic outcomes compared to traditional open surgeries. Professor Bajpai’s research into molecular markers for early renal injury has paved the way for targeted therapies in congenital uropathies. His innovative approaches to hypospadias repair prioritize optimal cosmetic and functional outcomes while minimizing postoperative complications. Furthermore, his expertise in the advanced surgical management of complex conditions like bladder exstrophy and epispadias has led to enhanced urinary continence and sexual function in affected individuals. He has also prepared the ICMR document on transgender health-related surgeries & gender affirmation. Through spearheading numerous international conferences, workshops, and training programs focused on Paediatric urology, Professor Bajpai has fostered collaboration and facilitated the exchange of cutting-edge surgical techniques, advancing treatment modalities in the field.

Dr. Kanishka Das is a neonatal and paediatric surgeon specializing in niche areas including Paediatric urology , Hirschsprung disease and spinal dysraphism . After graduating from St.John’s Medical College,Bangalore ,(1991) he has trained in General Surgery at PGIMER, Chandigarh(1991-94) and Paediatric Surgery at AIIMS-Delhi(1995-98). He has an abiding interest in the management of children with DSD and has established speciality gender clinics for their comprehensive management and follow up at St.John’s Medical College, Bangalore (1998-2018) and AIIMS, Bhubaneswar (2018-2024)as a teaching faculty . With over ninety indexed publications and 12 chapters in textbooks, Dr Das has also authored and edited a section on Diagnosis of DSD in a textbook on the subject (in press).Currently, he is the Secretary, Society for Children with DSD,India.

Prof. Padidela is a consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Bone Disorders at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, UK, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Manchester.
He completed his training in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Royal London Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and University College London Hospital.
His MD (Research) training was completed at the Institute of Child Health, University College London.
Prof. Padidela is actively involved in managing clinical trials for new medications targeting bone disorders.
He is renowned nationally and internationally for his teaching and training in this field and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
Additionally, he provides guidance on the management of children with Metabolic Bone & Mineral Disorders on both national and international levels.
